Rings for Him

Geoff isn't super keen about rings.
I keep asking him what he'd like, and he keeps telling me he doesn't really care.
That the ring doesn't change anything or hold the same kind of resonance for him that it does for me.
(I'm BIG on the rings)
But I keep asking.
And I keep looking at ideas that I think he might like.
Like these.

I actually keep coming back to these rings from Ball and Chain
I REALLY love it.
And I know that Geoff really likes woodgrain.
The man will NOT let me paint any of our wood furniture.
Which drives me a bit batty because I REALLY WANT TO.
He likes the look of wood.

I digress.
Again.

These are some other rings that I thought he might like.

Made by an artist named Andrew English
your fingerprints are engraved onto your rings.
So sweet!

But it's entirely up to Geoff what ring he wears.
So I will stop fussing about it!

I love stacking rings

Ever since I was a little girl, I have worn rings.
They are my FAVORITE jewellery.

They are my favorite to wear, and my favorite to make.
I just love them.

And Wedding Rings???
Holy crap there has been some SERIOUS time devoted to thinking about them!
Geoff would be SHOCKED if he only knew just how much thought I have put into this.

Hours.

So many hours.

Even before I MET HIM.

Stacking rings in particular hold a place in my heart. I still have almost all of the rings I've ever worn (there is a sad place in my memories of a little jar of rings I had that I left out in the playroom... that got thrown away because SOMEONE who will remain nameless, dad, didn't see the rings inside and THREW THE JAR IN THE GARBAGE)
Oh yeah.
I remember.
I was 11.

Anyway, sniff, I really love stacking rings.
I love that you can switch them up, say just wear one, or throw on like, 7 or something.

Rad.

With my wedding set I have the opportunity to have a STACKED wedding set.
Which just keeps getting better and better.
I have my engagement ring, which is a sweet little silver band that I actually wore in my first stacked ring set(age 14-17). I hammered it and stamped it "only two".
Sigh! So sweet!
Since I am making my rings, I can be a bit selfish and get EXACTLY what I want.
And I already know what that is.
I haven't made them yet.
I will make them when Geoff presents me with the materials.

I am cool with making the rings.
I am not cool however with PAYING for my own engagement/wedding rings.
I may as well have just made up his proposal and dress up 7 cats in formal wear.

A girl's got to have some standards.

So here are some beautiful examples of stacking rings from etsy.

invites are being worked on

So I was sort of hoping to have these out in the mail by now.
But I got totally swamped by the holidays and then swamped by work when we got back.
And I only just finished up the drawing for them the night before last.

And I was going to take the drawing in to work yesterday to photocopy and size down (it's way too big to scan!)
But I forgot.

So tomorrow.

Changing my name

I just had a Moment.
(notice the capital letter?)

In 6 months I am going to be a Stevenson.

Right now that feels a little weird. Not in a bad way of course, I feel like The Stevenson's have been my family for a while already. They have all been incredibly welcoming and pretty amazing since I met them.
I am not one of those people who don't like their inlaws.
I really love them.

And I know that I am very lucky to have them all as a part of my life.

The weird part about all of this is that, I am just starting to get a grip on being me.
Let alone a WIFE.

Very weird.

To take my mind off of it, let's look at some Shoes!
I have my amazing Wedding shoes already. They are beautiful! But I am thinking that once we get to dancing I am going to want to switch up to the old flip flops.

I know what I am like.

So I have been looking at some summer sandals that could fit the bill of comfort AND cuteness.

exhibit A:

Cute with a wedding dress, AS WELL as shorts, skirts and leggings.

Exhibit B:

Adorable. The bow is SO CUTE! My only concern is that I am probably going to be ripping hot from all the dancing and the drinking. So do I want to go for a closed toe??

I am not sure.

Exhibit C:

Polka dots??
Heaven!

Exhibit D:
(which I think I just need anyway)

I think that when it comes right down to it I'll pick a flat sandal. Probably the Birkenstocks (exhibit A) because I lurve
the birks I have now.
Really lurve them.

And I'll just have to get the red flats for Spring!
Wee!

Wedding dress shopping...

Is hilarious!
Remember how I told you that we had done a bit of dress shopping over the holidays?
Well, I wasn't making that up, and I've got pictures to prove it!

We only went to two wedding dress stores this trip. Something that I really liked about the second place we went, Blush Bridal Boutique on Johnson street, was that they would cinch me in with huge, industrial clamps! Those dresses weren't going anywhere.
And there were two real stand outs that day...

The strapless dress was so beautiful, really ethereal and kind of unreal how well it fit. (only needed one mini clamp!)
And the pleated bodice of the other dress was really winning us all over.
But it was too many layers of fabric.
We're getting married in JULY, so 17 layers of polyester and satin are kind of out of the question.
(I almost overheated just in the store)

And having had some time to think about it, I think that I've come up with a design that just might be perfect.
Angie is making my dress.
It's going to be amazing.
And if we go with the design I've got now, I'll get to laser cut some leather for a BELT.

Oooh I've got goosebumps!

wedding dress shopping

So I went out dress shopping for the first time this week and let me tell you, it is super fun, and also totally exhausting.
I've got some pictures that I have to upload from the camera still, I will likely do this in the next few days.
But I have also seen a few things online that I am currently loving and I'll share those for now!

I am really excited about the drop waisted dresses, they look so COMFORTABLE.
And I don't know if you know this ab out me, but I am a big fan of comfort.

Some of the dresses I tried on were VERY SERIOUS wedding dresses.
Many layers of crinallin, lace and Very Heavy.
There were a couple of stand outs, which I will share later.

But these online dresses I think are more up my alley. The two bottom dresses I am picturing with a big bow tied in the back with those lovely sashes.

I'll have to see if I can find something like them to try on so I can see if they will work for my figure.

Dresses = fun.
